Renee Stone is the chief of staff for NOAA. In this role, she serves as a primary advisor to the under secretary for oceans and atmosphere (NOAA administrator) and manages overall headquarters operations. On behalf of the under secretary, Stone and her colleagues work to formulate and implement the policy objectives of the Administration, the secretary of commerce, and the under secretary. Stone has extensive experience in environmental, energy, and natural resource issues from her work in federal government, private law practice, and nonprofit organizations.
Prior to joining NOAA, she served as the chief of staff of the National Park Service, deputy chief of staff and deputy solicitor at the Interior Department, and as a senior advisor at the Department of Energy.
Stone received her undergraduate degree from Rollins College in Florida, a master’s degree in modern history from Oxford University, and a law degree from Stanford Law School.
